One of the popular programs for organized groups includes a guided tour of the DINA Large Carnivores Centre, combined with the workshop “Walk with a Hunter.” Visitors, accompanied by an experienced guide, explore the habitat and habits of the wolf, lynx, and bear at interactive stations. The guide provides an in-depth presentation of the natural environment and the unique characteristics of large carnivores. Afterwards, participants apply their newly acquired knowledge during a guided hike through the nearby forest, where they discover tracks and signs of these fascinating animals.

SECRETS OF THE PIVKA LAKES

One of the popular programs for organized groups includes a guided tour of the Ecomuseum of the Seasonal Lakes of Pivka and the workshop “Walk to the Lake.” In the museum, participants learn about the secrets of the karst landscape and, under expert guidance, explore the phenomenon of disappearing water characteristic of this unique karst world. After the museum presentation, the group takes a walk to the lake, which at certain times majestically stretches beneath St. Trinity, while during dry periods its surface covers blooming grasslands, offering participants a unique insight into the natural cycles and beauty of the karst landscape.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

In the first part, visitors are introduced to key, including lesser-known or most interesting facts about the lives of large carnivores. These are connected with numerous sayings and prejudices. Special emphasis is placed on presenting good practices and challenges of coexistence. This is followed by a visit to the interactive station “What to do if you encounter a female bear.” Afterward, visitors are free to explore the exhibition and try out various stations. Those interested can watch three short films about the lynx Goru, the wolf Slavc, and the female bear Katja together with the guide.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

With the investigative DINAmic notebook, we embark on an exploration of Pivka and its fascinating natural and cultural heritage. We visit the birthplace of Ludovika Kalan and read her poem, follow mountain trail markers, learn about the lime tree and small-leaved lime in their shade, discover why the Pivka wastewater treatment plant is called ŽIVA, and uncover many other interesting facts about Pivka’s nature and history.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

In the first part of the workshop, participants review forest behavior rules with a hunter and learn about the biology of hoofed game in our forests through experiential learning. On the forest trail, they themselves “find” antlers of roe deer and deer of various ages, and identify tracks and other signs of different animals.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

In the first part of the workshop, participants venture into the forest where they learn about the gifts of the forest, forest etiquette, its inhabitants, and locate a spruce tree. They compare the spruce with other conifers, discover spruce resin, its medicinal properties, and even collect some. In the second part, participants learn about the ingredients and the preparation process of natural spruce ointment made from local ingredients following a traditional recipe. This is followed by a practical demonstration of making the natural spruce ointment. Each participant receives a 5 ml bottle of spruce ointment made during the workshop at the conclusion.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Ecomuseum of the Seasonal Lakes of Pivka showcases the remarkable world of the Pivka Seasonal Lakes, which provide an important habitat for numerous animal and plant species. During the guided tour, your guide will lead you through the beautiful karst landscape of seventeen seasonal lakes—nowhere else in the world are there so many in such a small area. Sometimes you’ll see lake basins, other times colorful meadows—the Pivka lakes always offer stunning views, and at the Ecomuseum, you’ll learn fascinating stories connected to them. The guided tour is followed by a screening of a short film (10 minutes) featuring beautiful footage of the Pivka Nature Park.

During the guided tour along the Živa wastewater treatment educational trail, visitors learn about the biological wastewater treatment processes and visit the interpretation room dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of protecting water resources. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The group sets off with the guide to Petelinjsko Lake, the second largest seasonal lake in the Pivka region, where water remains the longest. Along the way to the viewpoint, stunning views of St. Trinity will unfold. You may already be familiar with the story of the hero who lived below St. Trinity, but with the interpretation of the local guide, you will also learn about other features of the landscape.

  • The activity takes place outdoors and is conducted even in light rain. Participants should wear appropriate footwear and clothing.

  • Tours are possible by prior arrangement and confirmed reservation at least 5 working days before arrival.
  • A reservation is considered confirmed upon written confirmation (reply to the email with the program) from your side. If we do not receive a response within 5 days of sending this offer, the reservation will be canceled.
  • All tours are at your own risk. We recommend wearing sportswear appropriate for the season and hiking shoes.
  • We offer all visitors free parking and restroom facilities.

PRICE VALIDITY

  • Groups larger than 15 people include a guide in the price. Without prior notice, the guide is not included in the price.
  • Due to space limitations, the group size for guided tours of the exhibitions (DINA Centre, Ecomuseum, and ČN Živa) is approximately 30 people. If there are more participants, the group will be split.
  • If the group has fewer than 15 people, the entrance fee is charged according to the regular price list (€0.50 for preschool children, €5 for children aged 6–15, €7 for secondary school and university students). This price does not include a guided tour; an additional fee applies (up to 90 minutes – €50, up to 120 minutes – €60, up to 180 minutes – €80).

DELAY or CANCELLATION

We reserve the right to charge additional fees (guide waiting time) in case of group delay or cancellation less than 5 working days before the reserved appointment.
