DISCOVER PIVKA IN SEPTEMBER, THE MONTH OF PIVKA TOURISM

Institute of tourism Pivka is preparing a special program for September, the month of Pivka tourism. Between September 7th and 29th, a series of events under the name Discover Pivka will take place. The program is intended for both local residents and other visitors and will offer an immersive experience of Pivka through its culture and nature.

Discover Pivka is a series of events organized by the Institute of Tourism Pivka from September 7th to 29th. Each weekend in September will be filled with a diverse program dedicated to various sports and cultural activities.

The events will include local and international music programs, and there will also be ZgodoVikend – History Weekend, organized by the Park of Military History Pivka.

We will conclude the month of vibrant events with the traditional culinary festival; TASTES OF PIVKA 2024, which will take place on September 29, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM in front of the Krpanov dom in Pivka. Local chefs will showcase Pivka’s flavors with a diverse culinary sales program, and visitors will have the chance to select the Best Taste of Pivka 2024. The stalls will also feature high-quality, local, and bear-friendly products. The event will be accompanied by musical performances.

The festival is organized in collaboration with Group Pivka – Delamaris, which has prepared a special adventure this year: an open day where visitors can explore areas typically hidden from public view. DISCOVER PIVKA ON A HIKE

September 7, Zagorje (Bar Stari Tišlr)
Hike on Vilhar’s Path with Music and Words
4:00 PM

KPD Miroslav Vilhar Zagorje, in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism Pivka, the Municipality of Pivka, and the Cultural Path for All Generations Study Club, invites you to the traditional hike along Vilhar’s Path, in honor of our Miroslav Vilhar’s birthday. The hike will take place on Saturday, September 7th, at 4:00 PM, starting from Zagorje to Pivka.

Schedule:

  • 3:45 PM – Gathering of hikers at Bar Stari Tišlr
  • 4:00 PM – Guided hike through Pivšce towards Knežak
  • 5:00 PM – Tribute to Miroslav Vilhar at the cemetery by St. Barbara in Knežak, with a cultural program
  • 5:20 PM – Vilhar’s song will guide us along the path to Kalc Castle
  • 5:30 PM – Interpretive workshop “Vilhar’s Charge” and workshop “Diversity of Pivka Lakes” (starting at 4:00 PM) at Kalc Castle, also suitable for younger participants
  • 6:30 PM – Hike back through the linden and chestnut tree avenue towards Zagorje
  • 7:00 PM – End of the hike at the starting point, snack
  • 8:00 PM – Concert “FORWARD WITH SONG!” (a musical-literary evening about the life and work of Miroslav Vilhar) at Krpan’s House

DISCOVER PIVKA AT THE PARK OF MILITARY HISTORY

September 14th and 15th, Park of Military History Pivka
HISTORY WEEKEND
10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Park of Military History Pivka, once again this year, will host its central annual museum event and the largest military history event at the national level: ZgodoVikend – History Weekend! Scheduled for the third weekend in September, from September 13th to 15th, 2024, ZgodoVikend, which has replaced the former Military History Festival with a new look, is designed as a multi-day series of events focused on in-depth exploration and experience of history. The weekend traditionally begins with Vestirngo, an annual introduction for military conscripts organized by the Defense Administration, with conscripts arriving on traditional conscription wagons. The varied activities continue on Saturday with an enriched museum program, numerous museum tours, and an open day at the Stanislav Požar Barracks, culminating on Sunday with demonstrations of armored vehicle drives from the collection and dynamic presentations by firefighters, the Slovenian Army, and the Police. DISCOVER PIVKA ON A WALK

FROM KAL TO RAVNE ESTATE
4:00 PM

On Saturday, September 21, join us at 4:00 PM for a walk along the circular route Kal – Ravne – Kal. The meeting point is at the playground, followed by a free guided tour: we will walk through the beautiful landscape with a historian to the estate and explore the surroundings of the castle. With images of the residents and a brief tour of the interior, we will learn about the past and uncover local stories.

We will visit the Lipica Stud Farm stable, where hikers will have the opportunity to sample traditional spirits for which the estate has been known historically. Before returning, there will also be a musical surprise.

EXPERIENCE PIVKA WITH MUSIC

Krpanov dom will once again be serenaded on September 28 at 7:00 PM with melodies from the “Music Without Limits” event, an international concert that brings together local band “Fantje spod Šilentabra” with sister musical groups.

TASTES OF PIVKA 2024

The culinary festival taking place on September 29th promises a real treat for all food enthusiasts and lovers of delicious cuisine. Prepare for an unforgettable experience in Pivka, where local flavors will blend with numerous activities for the whole family.

Culinary Delights: Eight vendors will prepare a variety of dishes based on local flavors. Instead of traditional meals, you can purchase vouchers that allow you to try several different plates. After tasting, you can vote for your favorite dish of Pivka 2024. As a cherry on top, you might win a practical prize, and the best vendor, according to visitor opinions, will be awarded a symbolic plaque.

Market and International Flavors: At the market, vendors will showcase fresh local products. In addition to local flavors, you’ll also enjoy delicacies from Slavonia provided by friends from Brodski Stupnik, and Bavarian beer from the twinned town of Durach will provide a refreshing touch.

Musical Enjoyments: The entire day will be filled with music. We’ll start with the Postojna Brass Band at 11:00 AM, followed by numerous musical groups, including Fanti spod Šilentabra, Klapa Jadran from Tivat, Drumarice from Brodski Stupnik, and local and German accordionists. The Colorado Country Line Dance group will add a lively touch with their dance performances.

Opening Ceremony: The event will be opened with greetings by Majda Godina, the Deputy Mayor of Pivka, and Janez Rebec, the Director of Pivka – Delamaris Group.

Activities for All Tastes: Three special guided tours are planned: hiking, cycling, and horseback riding. The start will be at the Ecomuseum of Lakes (Slovenska vas 10, 6257 Pivka) at 9:00 AM, concluding just in time for lunch at Tastes of Pivka 2024. For our youngest visitors, a children’s corner will be available at Krpanov dom, allowing parents to enjoy gourmet treats.
