Physical accessibility and content accessibility are important aspects of the DINA Centre’s operations. Upon arrival, you will find two designated parking spaces for people with disabilities in front of the Krpanov Dom Centre building, along with several standard parallel parking spaces. Krpanov Dom Centre is also accessible by train. Access to the building is possible via stairs with a handrail or by using the ramp. The building has accessible restrooms located in the basement, which can be reached by elevator. Movement throughout the DINA Centre is adapted for persons with mobility impairments, with wide, unobstructed pathways and automatic doors for easy maneuvering.
We have also prepared adapted materials for people who are blind or visually impaired:
- A tactile floor plan of the exhibition area, which helps visitors navigate the space more easily.
- A tactile map of Slovenia, providing information about the areas where large carnivores are present in the country.
- The content from the BeastBook interactive stations has been transferred into Flipbook format, allowing users to learn about individual large carnivore species, their habitats, and diets.
- The station What to do if you encounter a female bear? presents different responses through tactile displays and Braille text.
- The VR headset content includes audio description, offering a unique experience. Through detailed descriptions of the environment, senses, and perception of the surroundings, visitors are immersed in the forest and experience it on a completely different level with the help of audio descriptions.
The screening of the film Large Carnivores Know No Borders includes subtitles, while the video clips in the centre do not contain sound. Eight portable hearing loops are also available for guided groups. All assistive devices are available free of charge at the reception.
Access to the Ecomuseum itself is possible by car. In front of the building, there is one designated parking space for people with disabilities and ample space for parallel parking in case the reserved spot is occupied. The doors are opened by the receptionist, who is present at the reception during all visiting hours. Unlike the DINA Centre, the Ecomuseum has two floors, but it is equipped with an elevator inside, intended exclusively for persons with disabilities. Accessible restrooms are also available. The pathways within the museum are wide enough and free of obstacles. The film screening at the end of the tour includes only ambient music, so subtitles are not necessary.
Eight portable hearing loops are also available for guided groups.
The accessible parking space is visible as soon as you turn off the main road into the Park. Right next to the museum, there is another small parking area with an additional designated parking space for people with disabilities. The entrance to the museum is accessible via a small ramp. Inside the museum, there is also a designated entrance for persons with mobility impairments, providing access to the exhibition pavilions. The tour of the Park of Military History is spread across several exhibition pavilions. All of them are fully accessible and adapted. The recommended tour routes are additionally marked for persons with mobility impairments. All pathways are paved. The pavilions and the Command building are accessible via elevator. The restrooms in the museum are fully adapted for persons with mobility impairments. They are located on the ground floor of the building. Another adapted accessible restroom is located across from the shop. Adapted accessible restrooms are also available in the pavilions. The Kantina Pivka Bistro is located on the ground floor and is fully accessible, including its outdoor seating area.
